http:// link should be seperate documentroot in apache with a diff content on that homepage that just say use https:// to get webmail access
in apache its 2 virtual host, not one, see apache logs to confirm that it works, webmail should never use http link in anyway, explain that on the webmail.foo.com if users use http and not https, then you dont need more security like other try to make as a workaround with redirects
