On the version I am using (0.9.3) it does that but also hides the labels
on the right of the buttons so only the icon is visible. I think
originally it didn't do this, but can't remember which version it
changed in.

No problem, I appreciate your help. Now I'm curious what you mean
about *that* row of buttons. Clicking that arrow brings up and down
the row with About and Logout for me. Is that the correct behavior?
I don't know of any way to hide the labels on the Refresh etc buttons

yep. just click on the little up arrow to the right hand side of the
buttons.

row covering the buttons. Am I missing the arrow?
