I'm using Fedora 9. I've installed both plugins and set protect=1 on the
fedora and fedora-updates repositries and also set their priority to 1
and rpmforge priority to 2... still same result.
What am I missing here ?

CentOS/RHEL depends on perl-DBD-MySQL (note the capital letters) wich is
not provided by the rpmforge package. You can see the difference if you
try yum provides perl-DBD-mysql vs yum provides perl-DBD-MySQL
