Hi all,

I have 64bit flash-plugin test packages in the EL5 x86_64 test repository. Let me know if you have any issues with these.

Hello,

This is on centos 5.2 x86_64, fully up to date.
Hardware is a Core 2 Duo with 2G of RAM, and an nvidia 8800GT video card.

it took me a while, but I finally got around to configuring the test repo and installing the 64-bit flash plugin this week-end. The only other package that changed on the system at that time was fuse-ntfs-3g, which got upgraded:

Upgrading fuse-ntfs-3g 1.5130-1.el5.rf to 2009.1.1-1.el5.rf
Removing nspluginwrapper 0.9.91.5-22.el5
Removing flash-plugin.32bit 9.0.124.0-1.el5.rf
Removing nspluginwrapper.32bit 0.9.91.5-22.el5
Installing flash-plugin 10.0.d21.1-1.el5.test

Shortly after this, I see the following in /var/log/messages:
Jan 31 16:36:01 localhost kernel: NVRM: Xid (0001:00): 16, Head 00000001 Count 00000000 Jan 31 16:36:01 localhost kernel: NVRM: os_map_kernel_space: can't map 0xe0100000, invalid context!

The second message is repeated many many times, and ends with some kernel error messages including a call trace that seems to point to the nvidia driver (closed source) as the culprit, but see below. I'm including the final stanza of error messages at the end of this email just in case. I then get some more os_map_kernel_space error messages. After several cycles, it ends with a locked system (hard reset required).

I'm using the following nvidia driver:
nvidia-x11-drv-173.08-1.beta.el5.rf.x86_64
nvidia-x11-drv-32bit-173.08-1.beta.el5.rf.x86_64
I've used this driver without issues since last july, and the above error hasn't occurred before.

The kernel is 2.6.18-92.1.22.el5, and was installed 10 days before the flash upgrade and first error messages.

So, this is probably indeed a bug in the nvidia driver, but it seems triggered by the latest 64-bit flash - I don't believe this is just a coincidence.

Has anyone else tested the 64 bit flash, and do you see similar messages in /var/log/messages?

I'll remove flash and reinstall the 32-bit version with nspluginwrapper, and see if the problem goes away. Another thing I could try is upgrade my nvidia driver and see if the 64-bit flash is then OK (but there's no rf package, so it's more hassle... ;-) ).

Regards,
Nicolas
