understand that the latest python is not the solution for a bigger part of
the ecosystem.
The worst thing that can happen is that Fedora moves to python3, RHEL6
ships python 2.7 and they invent newer metadata using python3 that yum
requires for some critical/popular functionality that CentOS wants. (think
rpm deltas ?)
Sigh.
Moving to CentOS5 or CentOS6 mostly depends on the effort to
reinstall/reconfigure. The RPMforge setup is pretty easy to move over, but
I don't know what other services the system is providing. And whether what
we need works flawlessly on CentOS5. I am still using a createrepo that is
2 years old because everything newer had some issue somewhere.
