Dear users of rpmforge

I apologize for the, hopefully few, problems the update of perl packages
in rpmforge caused lately.
My motivation to take on this large project was to provide more quality
on rpmforge with up2date perl packages. Once the bulk update is done we
can keep the perl packages up2date in a timely manner.
I will immediately try to fix all problems which are reported and before
continuing find a way to avoid this to happen again.
I regret what did happen. I ask you to report any problems which you see
so I can fix them immediatly.

Chris,

Don't feel disappointed about what you are doing. The perl updates are important and the resolution problems are a temporary situation.

People should not use RPMforge for production systems anyway, they should cherry-pick and test those packages in their own repositories.

In fact, I think the main problem is that yum simply cannot handle this properly, it bails out and refuses to work, while apt-get is much better for this.

As you can see, it keeps back the packages that pull in new dependencies, or those that have a resolution problem. It does not bail out because something cannot be resolved.

The perl modules I have installed were not impacted by your updates, and a large number of RPMforge users have no issues either.

Thanks for taking care of the perl updates !
