I am not sure whether you realize it or not that yum update
--skip-broken will allow you to run yum update without errors in either
case. This behavior can be made permanent via the config file of yum's
skip-broken plug-in.

I wonder whether RPMForge FAQ should recommend users to install and use
skip-broken for those, who use RPMForge directly and on a regular
basis... This should take care of most of the problems, IMO.
