The new rpmforge python-sqlite package will, upon installation, break
yum badly. I worked around it by downloading and force-installing the
old package using rpm directly.

Still, that new package needs a stern talking to. And maybe some time
in the naughty chair.

What new python-sqlite are we talking about here ? I haven't build or
released any new python-sqlite packages since 2007.

Huh. At first I thought the problem was:

http://apt.sw.be/redhat/el5/en/i386/rpmforge/RPMS/python-sqlite2-2.3.3-1.el5.rf.i386.rpm

Because the version that kills my yum is also 2.3.3.

However, looking again more carefully, the package above is
python-sqlite2, version 2.3.3, release 1.el5.rf, dated 2007-07-08, size
119 k. But yum is complaining about python-sqlite, version 0:2.3.3,
release 1.el5.rf, dated 2007-03-08, size 128 k. Clearly different
packages, but very confusingly so.

I was beginning to doubt my sanity at this point, until I finally
figured out what was wrong ...

... wait for it ...

... this was the system I had recently enabled the rpmforge-test repo
on, so I could test out your new mencoder package, and I hadn't disabled
it again afterwards. Clearly, that python-sqlite package was an old
test that didn't go so well. :-)

Oops. Sorry for the false alarm!

You are right, let me remove those old python-sqlite packages from the test repository. Until now we have been focussing on cleaning up the main repository, but I guess we should start to look at cleaning up the test repository as well.

Thanks for reporting !
