Hello. I've recently started configuring the Dag repository on RHEL5
servers. I did this by simply installing the rpmforge package. I then
use it to install nagios-nrpe, which pulls in a number of dependencies,
mostly Perl packages. Most of the dependency packages are available in
either the main Red Hat repository, or in the Dag repository.

My question is, how can I tell yum to give higher priority to the Red
Hat repositories?

On one of our servers, installing nagios-nrpe pulled in dependencies
that overwrote existing Red Hat packages (perhaps they were an older
version?). The Dag versions were built a bit differently, and it broke a
third-party application on the server. The immediate solution was to
disable the Dag repository, remove all packages that had been installed
from Dag but which exist in Red Hat, and then re-install them from Red
Hat. I'd prefer to have yum configured so it automatically gives
priority to the Red Hat packages and thus avoids this problem. Doing so
would also allow me to re-enable the Dag repository on the server (and
continue to receive all the benefits that implies, such as updates).
