Is anyone else seeing this? Did I miss some crucial 0.95 -> 0.96
configuration item(s)?

Yes, I'm seeing a similar problem with a
Postfix/Amavisd-new/Spamassassin/Clamav Centos 5.4 setup. Both our incoming
mail gateways had clamd and amavisd stop during the night. I've bypassed
the AV scan temporarily so I could get the mail flowing again (just
uncomment one of the early lines in /etc/amavisd.conf, if you're using it,
for the lurkers) and am starting to investigate now. Starting clamd, it
appears to keep allocating memory at the rate of 1 MB every couple of
seconds - I went and had breakfast, came back and it was still doing it, so
I killed it.

Mind you, I've occasionally seen similar behaviour over the last month or
two on the smaller of our two machines - mind you, it's old and slow, so I
simply assumed it was getting bogged down since the whole setup is fairly
CPU intensive. It's just possible 0.95 had a similar problem, too.

Best,
