I can speak German too, but this is an English list ... > At the end you write about meaning of left and right. Its not obvious, > that there is no special meaning of these. But there is a good reason, > not to change config dependig on the point of view: > > left and right in config just mean the to endpoints of one > IPsec-session. Advantage: You can use same config on both ends. Thanks, fixed. > Your mentions about ssh-keys within swan I find very interesting, > nevertheless I'm using x.509-certificates since 1997, within freeswan > and strongswan from my first steps on. The leftid, rightid give me some > flexxibility I always want to have. Dear Joahnnes, I don't know anything in details about these certificates. Could you have a fresh look at my page and explain how to connect. My problem is that after using http://www.strongswan.org/uml/testresults43/gcrypt-ikev2/rw-cert/ files, it does not work. This is probably because I did not sign certificates and/or I don't understand/read/find how to do it. Writing this short doc is a way for me to understand freeSwan logic. IMHO, configuring freeSwan is out of reach of most GNU/Linux users, even people like me who have a basic knowledge. This would be nice if someone could put the required glue to help me connect for the first time! And also understand there should be an easy way to configure a connection, just like SSH does. Therefore I added this feature request: http://wiki.strongswan.org/issues/show/101 Kind regards, Jean-Michel
