Yes, the package is broken with the new NetworkManager release. I have upgraded the package [1] to NM 0.9, but it has not been pushed yet to Debian/Ubuntu. But even with the new package, it doesn't work without patching NM. I've submitted a fix [2], but it seems that more work is required to get NM fixed.
