The only assert I see in OpenSSL's ssleay_rand_add() function is related
to multi-threading. Didn't you build OpenSSL with threading support?
This is absolutely necessary as charon is multi-threaded.
Have a look at OpenSSL's INSTALL file. It says that multi-threading
support is enabled, if the Configure script can determine the compile
options that are needed. It could be that this fails in your
cross-compilation case. Try to follow the notes in said file to enable
multi-threading support.
