Hi,
I’m developing a VPN / Proxy client for Android and iOS, and for compatibility
reason, I turned to strongSwan who provide support for IPSec IKEv1. But there
are the problems :

- The apps will be released on the stores of each platform, and strongSwan
being under GPL License, I will have to distribute the source code of my
applications, and this is likely to be a problem because the company I’m
working for don’t necessarily want their software to be open sourced.

- To overcome the first issue, I’m trying to build a standalone, command line
version of strongSwan that will run in the background and will be called by my
application, but Charon need to have root privileges to run, and not everyone
have their mobile phone rooted.

So I’m asking, is there a (legal) way to make use of strongSwan library in my
applications, that respect the license software and the work involved behind ?

Thanks,
Rodney
