I wanted to share this article which I found to be quite a useful, and
concise, guide to some Maven best practices.
 
The part on managing projects is how we've gone about it and in our
world where everything scales exposing any pain points, that idiom has
helped us simplify managing projects with lots of modules (we don't do
multi-module builds though).
