Just to make sure, do you have a proxy server on your network? If so, you'll need to set up the proxy in Eclipse.
I haven't had much luck with the plugin unfortunately. While it installs no problem and I have menus, I haven't been able to get POM synchronization working and the registeded editor for POM files displays every tab in some corrupted view.
