I agree, except for one thing: we haven't released -beta-1 yet, which
means the final design of features is still in flux. Documentation under
these circumstances is not always the best idea. Also, we do have design
docs in various places (APT sources, Confluence @ docs.codehaus.org,
MAVEN space, and in JIRA filed with relevant issue).

The last point I'd make is that we could use some help. There is a
critical mass of work to be handled here, wherein if we don't focus on
some to the detriment of the rest, we will never be able to get
2.0-final out the door, because new feature requests will flood in
faster than we can organize feature sets for release.

I suppose it's a nice problem to have, being popular. But this is an
open source project, and needs volunteers to help deal with this
increasing popularity...the simple fact is that - all idealism aside -
we *don't* have the spare cycles to get everything done Right Now. But
it *will* get done.

| Fact is, taking a few cycles off of frantic coding to do some decent
| documentation would allow more developers to contribute, which *could*
| give everyone more spare cycles.
|
| Good documentation would also help developers reason about the software.
