The point here is to alter Hibernate & Spring POMs directly in central Maven repository, so that everybody gets the benefit of the changes.
The way to do that is to file a JIRA issue in http://jira.codehaus.org/browse/MEV , but this requires a certain knowledge of the related product to know what is optional and what is not.
