Of course your right... but if you can't (as is often the case) or you want to be able to reproduce your build at will, the you do need to think about it.
In my case, I've got a bunch of people who don't give a rats ass why it doesn't work when it doesn't... if I told them they had to install 20 jarsmanually, Maven would get replaced immediatly.
