Hi Tony,
In that case I think you haven't installed the jdepend-maven-plugin yet. To confirm, check your local repository if you have the plugin artifact, 
It should be here "~.m2\repository\org\codehaus\mojo\jdepend-maven-plugin\".
If there are no artifact you can check out the source here https://svn.codehaus.org/mojo/trunk/mojo/jdepend-maven-plugin/ 
and install it with the updateReleaseInfo set to true

"mvn install -DupdateReleaseInfo=true"

messages you posted it seems that you declared the groupId to org.apache.maven.plugins and the artifactId to maven-jdepend-plugin. 
Change your groupId to org.codehaus.mojo and your
artifactId to jdepend-maven-plugin. 

It should work.
