Hi Dave,

To get conf files in the jar distribution, they must be "resources". The
standard directory to put them into is src/main/resources [1]

But if you want to use another directory (say, conf), you must tell the POM
[2] :
~  <build>
~    <resources>
~      <resource>
~        <directory>conf</directory>
~      </resource>
~    </resources>
~  </build>
