There are a few serious bugs with cobertura and maven 2. i've been plugging away with it for a while now and if you build maven from source it does work but only for single project builds. multi-project builds all report zero coverage.

i urge you to vote on these issues in Jira. cobertura not working properly is pretty much my final showstopper for getting maven 2 approved for use here at work.
