you don't need to rebuild maven - just rebuild your plugin. Rebuilding maven
is only needed if you want to modify maven itself (e.g. the core). If you
want to modify a plugin (e.g. the ear plugin in your case) you only need to
checkout the ear plugin, modify it, test it, and create the patch.
