Actually, there's even another error in the code shown as an example, because there is no proficio-features page in the downloaded archive. So you have to create it.

I found the problem: The site descriptor code shown as an example in the book and the one provided with the downloaded archive are different. In the downloaded one there are <menu ref="..."/> tags that the site generator doesn't seem to understand.
