Hi wayne!

First I had to get the repo's configured correctly, did you?
/conf/settings.xml:
====================
      <pluginRepository>
          <id>codehaus-snapshot-plugins</id>
          <name>codehaus-shapshot-plugins</name>
          <url> http://snapshots.maven.codehaus.org/maven2/</url>
          <snapshots>
              <enabled>true</enabled>
          </snapshots>
          <releases>
              <enabled>false</enabled>
          </releases>
      </pluginRepository>
================

I'm using findbugs plugin rather successfully myself:

<reporting>
<plugins>
     <plugin>
       <groupId>org.codehaus.mojo</groupId>
       <artifactId>findbugs-maven-plugin</artifactId>
       <version>1.0-SNAPSHOT</version>
     </plugin>

What specifically is your problem? Perhaps paste the stack trace from the
error?

Wayne
