No, I don't think so. For a couple of reasons:
- A new version does not only contains new features, it can also mean a
change in behavior.
- We could get into serious support problems if people are using the
same version of the plugin with different versions of maven-archiver.
- New features in maven-archiver would not be documented in the plugin.
