Thanks Odea, I deleted my repository and started from scratch. After that I was able to download a lot of the jars, but I did have to eventually manually install around 9 files manually like you suggested i.e. jaxp, activation, javamail.

Some of the jars only have the poms and checksum files deployed in the repository but not the jar file itself.
