you're using ssh for sync and you shouldn't

What I found so far and tried is the following:
$ rsync -rlHtSv [EMAIL PROTECTED]:/pub/packages/maven2/ .
ssh: connect to host ftp.ibiblio.org port 22: Connection refused
rsync: connection unexpectedly closed (0 bytes received so far) [receiver]
rsync error: error in rsync protocol data stream (code 12) at
/home/lapo/packaging/tmp/rsync-2.6.6/io.c(434)
There is obviously some configuration missing. Since I never used rsync before
my hope is that someone could share his/her configuration to get me out of my
current desperate try and error mode.
