In the published XSD has the targetNamespace is set to " http://maven.apache.org/POM/4.0.0";

Okay, I checked out the tag for maven-assembly-plugin 2.1, and published assembly-1.0.0.xsd from that. Also assembly-1.1.0-SNAPSHOT.xsd from the latest in svn. This one is subject to change and *will* be removed at some point in the future. They're in http://maven.apache.org/xsd HTH, -- Wendy
