Hi,
I think you can make a simply project to test the plugin.
And run "mvn compile".
The following scripts can be used,
<project>
        <modelVersion>4.0.0</modelVersion>
        <groupId>test</groupId>
        <artifactId>test</artifactId>
        <packaging>pom</packaging>
        <version>1.0-SNAPSHOT</version>

        <build>
                <plugins>
                        <plugin>
                                <groupId>org.apache.maven.plugins</groupId>
                                <artifactId>maven-antrun-plugin</artifactId>
                                <executions>
                                        <execution>

<phase>generate-resources</phase>
                                                <configuration>
                                                        <tasks>
                                                                <copy
file="path_to_test_file"

todir="path_to_test_dir" overwrite="true" />
                                                        </tasks>
                                                </configuration>
                                                <goals>
                                                        <goal>run</goal>
                                                </goals>
                                        </execution>
                                </executions>
                        </plugin>
                </plugins>
        </build>
</project>
