What they meant is that you can exclude the xml-apis transitive dep, i.e.:
<dependency>
<groupId>commons-logging</groupId>
<artifactId>commons-logging</artifactId>
<version>1.1</version>
<exclusions>
<exclusion>
<groupId>xml-apis</groupId>
<artifactId>xml-apis</artifactId>
</exclusion>
</exclusions>
</dependency>

Yes I have both jaxen and commons-logging.I need both at runtime and
hence can't exclude them
