Jalopy and Checkstyle operate the same in that respect.

I am not sure what you mean by modifying the ant plugin. Do you mean the
actual maven plugin? I have never edited a plugin in the past.
Or is there another way?

All I want is something like:

<ant antfile="classpath: build.xml" inheritRefs="true">

where classpath: means the plugin should search the dependency classpath for
the LIB.
