I think we've had this error before: Do not download the patch in such a way that it is modified! That is, if you use a browser to download, do not then try to edit the file in any way before use! To check that it is (or isn't) the same file, check that the md5 sum matches.

it happens with the full and the minimal patchs. btw I follow the installation doc to the letter.
