If all other WAP traffic works, then you could try removing the URL 
mapping in Kannel and putting the full MMSC URL into the phone, and 
seeing if that works for you.

I've logged  traffic with ethereal and the only thing I see is the
phone
sending WSP Connect requests to the gateway...
