Once you have a SIM card, presumably the MSISDN is printed on the  
pack somewhere.
The one complication I see with this setup (not knowing much about  
the Wavecom modem), is that because the MMS notification comes as an  
SMS containing the URL of the message to be fetched by the phone, I  
don't know if your Wavecom can be programmed to pass ALL incoming  
SMS  to Kannel. You would need to test send MMS to the modem's MSISDN  
and see if this is the case. If it is the case, then I'd gladly help  
you parse that info and pass it on to Mbuni for further processing
