When Mina splits the messages apart into multiple buffers, they arrive within milliseconds of each other, so a timeout of a second or two easily covers it. Yes it is a lousy protocol, but I can't do anything about it because it is an embedded protocol in the firmware of printers that no longer have a manufacturing vendor to support.
