Why is that? My interpretation of that result (ie. waited maximum time,
and no exception) is that the host did not respond in any way to your
connection attempt. It could simply be the case that the host on which
there is no daemon listening does not tell your desktop PC that there is
no daemon listening, or that your desktop PC fails to receive the
message. You can of course easily test this with a network monitor like
Wireshark.
