First thanks for the responses Barrie and Emmanuel.

The UDP session recycler sounds very interesting, and I will have a quick go at this first to see if it addresses the issue. I am trying not to get to excited about it yet, but it sure seems to fit the behavior that I have been seeing. I have been confused at seeing sessions closing when I have thought I had done programatically what I needed to keep them open. I should have realized that something was going on , but coincidentally the clients generally check back in every 30
seconds or so, which could mask the issue , most of the time.

If that does not fix my issue I will create a simple client and server version that can recreate the problem and will post it.

Thanks.

Rob

Hi Rob,

I see that you are posting for the second time, because you didn't get any
response.

It seems that there are not that much peeps out there being able to give you
some direction :/

Is this similar to http://www.mail-archive.com/[EMAIL PROTECTED]/msg02571.html
Where you need to replace the IoSessionRecycler as the default
terminates expiring sessions?

The message indicates it is a mina 1.x problem, I don't know if it
exists in 2.0.
