You might hit a problem that has been reported by Mathieu some time ago, which is the fact that the echo does not really work, so the client has no feedback when you type. Not that SSHD does not aim at being a replacement for the unix sshd daemon (though it might be doable), but is mostly used for accessing server side java commands through SSH, so do not expect to log in as root on your linux by running SSHD.
IIRC, there are two jar requirements: mina-core 2.0.x and slf4f-api. I'll update the web site (which still needs a lot of work) asap.
