I have two freeswan setups, one is running cleanly , the other says on
starting up :

ipsec_setup: Starting FreeS/WAN IPsec 1.99...
ipsec_setup: Using /lib/modules/2.4.20/kernel/net/ipsec/ipsec.o
ipsec_setup: /usr/local/lib/ipsec/eroute: pfkey write failed, returning -1
with errno=22.
ipsec_setup: Invalid argument, check kernel log messages for specifics.

but the log only says :

Aug 14 22:07:13 proxy ipsec_setup: /usr/local/lib/ipsec/eroute: pfkey write
failed, returning -1 with errno=22.
Aug 14 22:07:13 proxy ipsec_setup: Invalid argument, check kernel log messages
for specifics.
Aug 14 22:07:13 proxy kernel:
Aug 14 22:07:13 proxy ipsec_setup: KLIPS ipsec0 on eth1
217.6.109.59/255.255.255.0 broadcast 217.6.109.255
Aug 14 22:07:13 proxy ipsec_setup: ...FreeS/WAN IPsec started

I have no idea what the error could be. can anybody give me a hint what to
look for ?

I checked if ipsec works anyway, but the conntection fails in stage #2 :

002 "road" #1: initiating Main Mode
104 "road" #1: STATE_MAIN_I1: initiate
106 "road" #1: STATE_MAIN_I2: sent MI2, expecting MR2
108 "road" #1: STATE_MAIN_I3: sent MI3, expecting MR3
002 "road" #1: Peer ID is ID_FQDN: '@oproxy.i.omicron.de'
002 "road" #1: ISAKMP SA established
004 "road" #1: STATE_MAIN_I4: ISAKMP SA established
002 "road" #2: initiating Quick Mode RSASIG+ENCRYPT+TUNNEL+PFS
112 "road" #2: STATE_QUICK_I1: initiate
010 "road" #2: STATE_QUICK_I1: retransmission; will wait 20s for response
(etc.)

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Yours,
Jakob Curdes
