Question about MMBase possiblities

Good afternoon!   I subscribed to this group to ask a question about the use of MMBase. I am a student trying to figure out how MMBase works and I have a question about its possibilities.   I heard that the website www.omroep.nl is developed with MMBase and I noticed that there are a lot of subsites of different broadcasters, like VPRO, EO etc. My question is, is it possible to use MMBase to maintain a large group of websites with different content, layout and URL (with the use of mapping perhaps), or will it be necessary to install different instances of MMBase per category or something like that. Maybe you know if www.omroep.nl uses a lot of different instances, or do they use one very big MMBase?   I hope my question is clear to you and I hope that someone can give me an answer.   Thank you very much for your attention,   Marjolein
