Ok, you have to take *all* files from myfaces-examples/WEB-INF/lib
to cardemo/WEB-INF/lib and you should use this web.xml: http://incubator.apache.org/myfaces/docs/cardemoweb.html also remove work-directory in tomcat $tomcat_home/work/catalina/localhost there is a folder called democar and you must remove all tlds from sun.
