Btw. perhaps you also could try the MyFaces buildin support for portlets?

there is a portlet support, that was contributed by Stan Silvert (JBoss Group), directly into MyFaces. However, Jetspeed2 has also a MyFAces specific adapter(or bridge) for portlet/faces support.
