If you have the Select One Country example working then that is a good
sign.  That means that you have at least some JSF working.  I can't
imagine why the tree2 example (unmodified) would not work when other
examples are working.  One special thing about tree2 (and a few other
components) is that it makes use of the Extensions filter.  See the
myfaces.apache.org website for details on how to get that running.  My
guess is that might not be set up right.  (Just  a  guess.)
