Tree2 can support multiple roots with a little trick. Specify a single root (that is required) but then use the showRootNode attribute and specify "false." That should give you what you want.
The tree2 documentation (like the rest of the MyFaces components) is lacking. I am working to resolve that. Right now there are several good examples in the example app and the javadoc for the classes, the TLD's and the comments in the source are all pretty good.
