The Tree2 does not work client-side because the _javascript_ files cannot be loaded via the Filter in the current Build:

java.io.IOException: Unable to find resource _javascript_/tree.js for component tree2.HtmlTreeRenderer. Check that this file is available in the classpath in sub-directory /resource of the component-directory.
