This might be a configuration/build problem. The class
com.sun.faces.renderkit.html_basic.MenuRenderer is from suns reference
implementation. You might have testet your webapp with the RI and not
deleted all stuff from the war.
Sometimes when I switch between RI and MyFaces I've to delete all the
stuff directly in the Tomcat. Don't know why.

I suggest you figure out the problem instead of going to an older
version. There is a bug in the MyFaces code or your code and either
way, you'll want that resolved before the next release.
If there is a bug in the MyFaces code, please report a JIRA issue.
Even better, provide a patch ;-)

we have been planning for a while ;)
bash us if we don't release in the next view weeks, and in the
meantime, use the nightly build. It's pretty stable right now!
