You can also access to the information of the faces configuration at runtime using the RuntimeConfig singleton (only with myfaces implementation, AFAIK).
RuntimeConfig.getCurrentInstance(externalContext) You can access from there to the registered navigation rules, managed beans, and modify them at runtime...
