Check your web.xml. .xhtml should be added to the <url-mapping> of the
Faces Servlet. Something like
<servlet-mapping>
<servlet-name>Faces Servlet</servlet-name>
<url-pattern>*.xhtml</url-pattern>
</servlet-mapping>
