I'm going to try an get an overhaul of the tree2 stuff soon. I'm hoping to address this and several dynamic tree issues. Now that the website is published we just need to get the release done and I will be able to focus on it.
In the meantime it seems like users have come up with some interesting workarounds (including supplying your own model.)
